Gaming enthusiasts are buzzing about a potential 'Barbenheimer 2' as November's release schedule reveals an unlikely head-to-head. Only two major video games are currently slated to launch: the colossal Grand Theft Auto 6 and the vibrant Barbie Rewind.

The moniker, of course, harks back to 2023's cinematic phenomenon where Greta Gerwig's Barbie went head-to-head with Christopher Nolan's historical epic Oppenheimer. Now, it seems the gaming world is ready for its own version of this cultural collision.

Recent announcements at events like the Xbox Games Showcase and the Summer Games Fest's opening ceremony unveiled a slew of new titles. Yet, a clear trend emerged: nearly every studio is strategically sidestepping November, seemingly to avoid the seismic impact of Grand Theft Auto 6.

However, the team behind Barbie Rewind isn't shying away. This compilation game stands as the sole other title currently scheduled for November. Its description invites players to "Decorate the DreamHouse through the decades, while playing classic Barbie games." It promises a cozy, creative world where players can customize Barbie's DreamHouse and revisit favorite Barbie video games. Barbie Rewind is set to launch on November 12 for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

This avoidance strategy isn't new. Last month, the highly anticipated Fable reboot was reportedly pushed back to 2027, precisely to prevent a direct clash with Grand Theft Auto 6 and Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Developers cited a desire for the game to have "the dedicated moment it deserves."

In a fascinating counter-move, publisher Devolver Digital has reportedly deliberately shifted the release date of an unannounced game to November 19, the very same day Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to launch. Their defiant message on X: "You can’t escape us."
