Bring Me the Horizon's Oliver Sykes Suffers Concussion After Onstage Phone Throw

It appears someone took the lyrics of "Happy Song" a little too literally, and at Oliver Sykes' expense.

The Bring Me the Horizon frontman was hit by a fan's phone during the band's performance in St. Louis on Monday night. The incident resulted in a mild concussion for Sykes.

Footage captured by fans shows the moment the phone struck Sykes in the head while he was singing "Happy Song" from the band's 2015 album, That’s the Spirit.

"Who the f— just threw a phone at my f—ing head?" **Sykes** exclaimed after being hit, subsequently throwing the device back into the crowd. The singer was then seen checking his head and hands, seemingly for blood, and continued to rub his temples and forehead while performing "Can You Feel My Heart."

Following the incident, **Sykes** took to his Instagram Story on Tuesday (May 12) to update his fans and offer an explanation of what happened.

"Alright everyone – just wanted to let you know I’m all good," **Sykes** wrote. "The phone to the head definitely smarted and I ended up with a mild concussion, but the swelling’s gone down a decent amount already."

Sykes also apologized to fans who witnessed the remainder of the performance after the incident.

**Sykes** continues: "Last night I was struggling a bit on stage afterwards because singing was putting a lot of pressure on the wound and making things feel a bit disorienting while performing, so I’m sorry on my part for what may of seemed like a half hearted performance."

The rocker concluded by reassuring fans attending their Tuesday show in Kansas City that "everything should be fine for tonight’s gig."
