Cher Files for Conservatorship of Son Elijah Blue Allman Amidst Recent Arrests
Cher has filed for conservatorship of her son, Elijah Blue Allman, for a second time, citing concerns over his mental health and substance abuse issues following a series of arrests.

Cher has initiated conservatorship proceedings for her son, Elijah Blue Allman, 49, following a series of concerning incidents. This marks the second time Cher has sought legal intervention regarding her son's affairs.
Elijah Blue Allman is the son of Cher and the late Gregg Allman. In late 2023, Cher initially filed for conservatorship, expressing worries that Elijah was "substantially unable to manage his financial resources" due to "severe mental health and substance abuse issues".

Elijah subsequently objected to the conservatorship, asserting his competence and questioning Cher's suitability as his conservator. A private settlement was reached in 2024, leading to a pause in court proceedings as the family attempted to resolve the matter privately.
However, Cher has now renewed her petition for conservatorship, submitting the application to the Los Angeles Superior Court this week. The filing states that Elijah's condition has "significantly deteriorated since a prior conservatorship petition was filed in 2023".
The filing also notes that Elijah is currently in custody at a locked psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire, undergoing treatment to restore his competency to face criminal charges in two separate cases.
Elijah was reportedly arrested for causing a disturbance at a private school on March 1st. Two days later, he was arrested again for allegedly breaking into a home in Windham, New Hampshire.
Gregg Allman passed away in 2017. Elijah reportedly receives an annual allowance of $120,000 from his trust. Cher has previously expressed concerns that these funds are primarily spent on "drugs, expensive hotels and limousine transportation".
In 2023, Cher's lawyers suggested that she feared "any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk".
In other news, Cher was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammys in February. She also made headlines for accidentally awarding the Record Of The Year prize to Luther Vandross instead of Kendrick Lamar and SZA.
