Country Titans Unite: HARDY, Tim McGraw, Morgan Wallen, and Eric Church Drop "McArthur"
Four of country music's biggest names – HARDY, Tim McGraw, Morgan Wallen, and Eric Church – have joined forces to release "McArthur," a powerful new song exploring themes of legacy and lineage.

Four country music powerhouses have converged to deliver a collaboration steeped in heritage and reflection.
HARDY, Tim McGraw, Morgan Wallen, and Eric Church have officially unveiled their highly anticipated collaborative track, "McArthur." Penned by HARDY, Chase McGill, Jameson Rodgers, and Josh Thompson, with production by Jay Joyce, the song delves into the profound themes of legacy and familial connection.
"Father time don’t leave anyone out,” the artists sing, accompanied by gentle guitar strumming, “When you pass on/ What you gonna pass down?” This poignant question forms the heart of the song's narrative.
The rollout of "McArthur" was marked by a cryptic social media campaign. Each artist – HARDY, Wallen, McGraw, and Church – shared images on Instagram filled with names all sharing the McArthur surname, accompanied by various birth and death dates. This created intrigue and speculation among fans, building anticipation for the song's release.
Church posted, “Junior McArthur. b. September 2, 1945. d. April 4, 1967.” Wallen posted, “Hunter McArthur. b. May 13, 1993” (coincidentally, Wallen’s actual birthdate). HARDY posted, “Jones McArthur. b. June 5, 1968. d. January 5, 2025.” McGraw posted, “John McArthur. b. Nov. 2, 1920 d. Nov. 22, 1963.”
The collaborative nature of the song, with each artist trading lines and harmonizing at key moments, evokes the spirit of iconic country music supergroups like The Highwaymen (Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Waylon Jennings) and The Highwomen (Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Amanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby).
Notably, several of the artists involved in "McArthur" have collaborated in the past. HARDY has writing credits on numerous Wallen hits, and the two have previously joined forces on tracks such as “Come Back as a Redneck” and “He Went to Jared.” Church and Wallen have also collaborated on songs like “Man Made a Bar” and “Number 3 and Number 7.”
HARDY has openly expressed his aspiration to have McGraw record one of his songs. In a previous interview, HARDY stated, “Tim McGraw is one of the last people left that I haven’t been able to convince to record one of my songs…he’s just a legend and records only great music, so I know it’s going to have to be a special song.”
"McArthur" boasts an impressive roster of musicians, including Jay Joyce on percussion, bass, keys, and electric guitar, alongside Fred Eltringham (drums and percussion), Rob McNelley (electric guitar), Bryan Sutton (acoustic guitar and mandolin), and Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor (fiddle).
