Courtney Barnett Announces New Album 'Creature of Habit,' Featuring Waxahatchee Collab

Indie rock sensation Courtney Barnett has unveiled details for her highly anticipated new album, Creature of Habit, slated for release on March 27th via Mom+Pop. This marks her first full-length studio effort since 2021's acclaimed Things Take Time, Take Time.

The 10-track LP boasts the previously released single “Stay in Your Lane,” alongside a brand new track, “Site Unseen,” which features a captivating duet with Waxahatchee's Katie Crutchfield. A music video, directed by Juliana and Nicola Giraffe, accompanies the release of "Site Unseen."

Barnett shared the challenges in perfecting "Site Unseen": "I tried 3 separate times over 2 years to track this song, and each time it either wasn’t finished or didn’t sound right and each time we had to start again. I kept hearing this really high harmony in my head, so for the fourth and final version, I asked Katie if she’d be into singing it with me. I’m a big Waxahatchee fan. I really love Katie’s songwriting and her voice, so it was an honour to have her sing on ‘Site Unseen.’”

Adding to her already impressive resume, Barnett was the subject of the 2021 documentary Anonymous Club, which featured an instrumental soundtrack composed by herself and Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa.

To support Creature of Habit, Barnett will embark on an extensive North American tour across two legs, in May and August. Check out the tour dates below:
