Cyndi Lauper Defends Her Stage: 'I'm From Brooklyn, I'll Do a Tap Dance If I F—ing Want To'
Cyndi Lauper asserted her authority during the opening night of her Las Vegas residency, reminding a disruptive audience member of her Brooklyn roots and setting the tone for her show.

Cyndi Lauper is currently headlining The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for a limited five-night residency, and she's making it clear that the show will unfold on her terms.
During her opening night performance on Friday, April 24th, Lauper was reportedly interrupted just before she was about to perform "Sally’s Pigeons" from her 1993 album Hat Full of Stars. As she was sharing a story about the song, someone in the audience shouted something indecipherable.
"I don’t know what the f— you’re saying, hun,” Lauper responded, in a moment captured on video and shared by TMZ. "But please remember where you are, OK? Because if you’re trying to shade me, b—-, I’m gonna come for you. I’m from Brooklyn, and if I wanna f—ing talk, I will do a tap dance if I f—ing want.”
She then followed up with a lighthearted, “Sorry, that of course is not part of my people skills.”
Lauper’s Live in Las Vegas show, which began on April 24th, includes additional performances on April 25th, April 29th, May 1st, and May 2nd. This limited run marks her first-ever Vegas residency and provides fans with another opportunity to see her perform live after her Farewell Tour concluded last year.
In 2025, Cyndi Lauper was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
“It’s a community of people, rockers that have changed the world,” Lauper told Billboard last year. “Here’s the thing: I still believe that rock ‘n’ roll can save the world. I just want people to remember that we did make a difference. We can make a difference if we band together. We must come together as a community and make light and bring people together to make change, to do the good work.”
