Daz Dillinger Sues Tupac Shakur's Estate Over Unpaid Royalties

Producer Daz Dillinger has filed a lawsuit against Tupac Shakur's estate, claiming unpaid royalties for his work on several tracks, including hits from 'All Eyez on Me.'

Daz Dillinger Sues Tupac Shakur's Estate Over Unpaid Royalties

Producer Daz Dillinger, born Delmar Arnaud, is suing the estate of Tupac Shakur, alleging he is owed unpaid royalties from more than a dozen songs he co-wrote and produced during his time with Death Row Records.

The lawsuit, filed on May 8 and obtained by Billboard, lists several tracks from Shakur’s final album released during his lifetime, All Eyez on Me. These include iconic songs like “Ambitionz az a Ridah,” “Skandalouz,” “Got My Mind Made Up,” “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted,” and “I Ain’t Mad at Cha.”

Arnaud claims that after requesting royalties in 2024, Amaru Entertainment, the company managing Shakur’s music assets, paid him $91,000. However, he states that he received no royalty statements to validate this amount.

Bret Lewis, Arnaud’s attorney, told Billboard that "At a minimum, Amaru has failed to render statements and/or pay sums due within the applicable limitations periods and continuing to the present.” He added, “The precise amount owed will be shown according to proof after an accounting and discovery.”

A rep for Shakur’s estate has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Notably, in 2001, Afeni Shakur, Tupac’s mother and co-administrator of his estate, sued Arnaud for copyright infringement. She claimed he planned to release master recordings by Shakur that Arnaud produced while at Death Row Records, without the estate's permission. That case was settled out of court the following year.
