Don Toliver's 'OCTANE' Era: From Chart-Topping Album to Electrifying SXSW Performance
Don Toliver celebrated a monumental year with a high-energy performance at SXSW, showcasing tracks from his No. 1 album OCTANE and revisiting classics from Heaven or Hell.
Following a stellar performance at SXSW, Don Toliver is riding high on the success of his album, OCTANE.
"Tonight y’all will understand why I been here doing what I been doing and why they say the things about me," Don Toliver told Billboard just hours before taking The Stage at SXSW.
2026 has been a year of milestones for Toliver, marked by his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with OCTANE, and all 18 tracks charting on the Billboard Hot 100.
Opening acts like Chase B, Yakiyn, and Sosocamo warmed up the crowd before Toliver took the stage at the Moody Amphitheater in Austin, where he performed in front of nearly 5,000 fans.
The performance felt like a victory lap for Toliver, who has steadily risen in the ranks to join his mentor Travis Scott among the genre's elite with OCTANE.
Dressed in a striking white ensemble by designer Dingyun Zhang, the Texas native opened his set with a mesmerizing, slowed-down intro leading into OCTANE's first track, “E85.”
The energy soared as Toliver performed “BODY,” followed by the moshpit-inducing “OPPOSITE.”
Celebrating the sixth anniversary of his debut album, Heaven or Hell, Toliver took fans back to the project with performances of staples like “Cardigan” and closed the 75-minute set with “After Party.”
The audience, a mix of Gen-Z and millennials, enjoyed a setlist that spanned Toliver's discography, from his 2018 ASTROWORLD introduction “Can’t Say” to fan favorites like “No Pole,” “Bandit,” and “Lemonade.”
Deep cuts from OCTANE such as “TMU,” “Call Back,” and “Pleasure’s Mine” also resonated strongly with the audience.
This performance offers just a glimpse of what's to come on Toliver's OCTANE Tour, set to hit arenas across North America, starting with his headlining set at Rolling Loud in May.
