Duran Duran Set Conditions for Glastonbury Appearance: "We Shouldn't Be Below Anybody"
New wave icons Duran Duran have stated they would only consider playing Glastonbury if offered a headlining slot, emphasizing their status as a top-tier act.

It seems Duran Duran have some conditions before gracing the stages of Glastonbury. The band has made it clear that they would only perform at the festival if offered a headlining slot.
With over 100 million records sold, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, and multiple Grammy and Brit Awards, the new wave synth-pop band has surprisingly never played at the iconic Worthy Farm festival.
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, frontman Simon Le Bon explained the band's reluctance to play any stage other than the main one.
"Well, we want to – but not in a disco tent at 3pm, which is what we were offered," he said. "We want the right slot… We shouldn’t be below anybody on the bill. So, we’ll hold out because we’re a headline act – that’s all there is to it."

The band expressed similar sentiments in 2023 when speaking to NME about the possibility of playing Glastonbury. Le Bon stated, "I’d love to [do it] – we just need to get the right slot, that’s all."
He added, "We have had the chance to do it before, but it wasn’t playing the main stage and I think we’d like to be doing that for sure. I’m sure we’re in negotiations [with Glastonbury], and if not, we will be."
Duran Duran's last UK live performances were in October 2025, headlining major indoor arenas such as Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena and Manchester’s Co-op Live. They also headlined the closing night of Latitude 2024 and performed at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022.
Glastonbury will take a fallow year in 2026 but will return from June 23 to 27 in 2027. Tickets are set to go on sale in November, requiring prior registration.
While no acts have been confirmed for the 2027 festival, names like Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, and Taylor Swift are among the bookmakers' favorites to headline. There’s also speculation about The Rolling Stones potentially returning to Worthy Farm, with Keith Richards hinting at touring in 2027.
In April, Duran Duran released their latest single, ‘Free To Love,’ reuniting with Chic’s Nile Rodgers, with whom they’ve collaborated since their 1984 hit, ‘The Reflex.’ The band is also scheduled to perform a significant show at BST Hyde Park on July 5, featuring Scissor Sisters on the bill.
