Ed Sheeran Joins Maisie Peters for Surprise 'Castle On The Hill' Duet in Melbourne
Maisie Peters' Australian fans were treated to a special surprise when Ed Sheeran joined her on stage at the Forum Melbourne for a performance of 'Castle On The Hill.'
Maisie Peters' Australian fans experienced an unforgettable evening on Wednesday, March 4th, when Ed Sheeran made a surprise appearance during her show at the Forum Melbourne. The 2,000-capacity venue was electrified as the pair performed a heartfelt rendition of Sheeran's hit, "Castle On The Hill."
The collaboration was hinted at previously, building anticipation for what turned out to be a truly special moment for attendees of her two-night engagement at the venue.
This isn't the first time the two artists have shared a stage. Peters previously opened for Sheeran during the Australian leg of his – = ÷ x Tour (The Mathematics Tour) in 2023. Sheeran's performances at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during that tour broke records, with over 105,000 tickets sold on one night and 109,500 the next.
Peters shared a clip of the performance on social media, captioning it "singing with my boss Ed Sheeran." She is signed to Sheeran's Gingerbread Man Records via Atlantic U.K., a subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
She added, "thank u (Ed Sheeran) for singing the best song ever with me at my show in Melbourne tonight. still remember watching you play this one all 60 something gigs we did together, and it was so magical getting to join you on it for one. the best to ever do it."
Peters is currently on her Before The Bloom tour in Australia, promoting her upcoming third studio album, Florescence, which is set to release on May 15th. This tour follows her sold-out The Good Witch Comes To Australia tour in March 2024, where she headlined shows in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Florescence, co-produced by Ian Fitchuk, features collaborations with Julia Michaels and Marcus Mumford, and serves as the follow-up to her acclaimed album The Good Witch, which reached No. 4 on the ARIA Chart and No. 1 on the Official U.K. Chart.
With The Good Witch, Peters became the youngest British female solo artist in nearly a decade to top the U.K. albums chart. Her debut album, You Signed Up for This, peaked at No. 2 in the U.K. in 2021.
Sheeran concludes his Australian Loop Tour tonight at Adelaide Oval, while Peters concludes her Australian shows tonight at the Forum. Frontier Touring is behind both tours.
