Fever Ray Enters the World of Film with Maggie Gyllenhaal's 'The Bride!'
Fever Ray, also known as Karin Dreijer, makes their film debut in Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride!, contributing music to the soundtrack and releasing a new EP.
Fever Ray is stepping into the cinematic world! Following the release of their acclaimed 2023 album, Radical Romantics, Karin Dreijer is set to appear in Maggie Gyllenhaal's upcoming film, The Bride!, not only acting but also contributing original music.
A new EP featuring four tracks, including both cinematic and original versions of the brand-new songs "The Lake" and "Wrong Flower," is out today. In The Bride!, Fever Ray will be seen performing in an underground nightclub scene.
"I'm very thankful for being invited to this project by Maggie Gyllenhaal! I was a fan before, but when I read the manuscript for the first time, I was hooked," says Dreijer. "The language of The Bride! is poetic, fun, and magical, exactly where I like to exist."
The Bride! boasts a star-studded cast including Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Peter Sarsgaard, Jake Gyllenhaal, Annette Bening, and Penélope Cruz. The film's synopsis teases a wild ride:
> A lonely “Frank” (Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!
Meanwhile, Fever Ray's brother and collaborator from The Knife, Olof Dreijer, also has new music on the horizon, having recently announced his signing with George Daniel's dh2.
