Flea Announces Debut Solo Album 'Honora' and Unveils New Single Co-Written with Thom Yorke

Flea, known for his electrifying basslines with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, started his musical journey playing the trumpet. Now, after nearly five decades in the industry, he's revisiting that early passion with 'Honora.'

The album's first single, 'Traffic Lights,' is a testament to Flea's diverse musical palette. Co-written with Thom Yorke (Radiohead, Atoms for Peace) and Josh Johnson, the track is accompanied by a vibrant animated video created by Nespy5euro.

Flea describes the genesis of the collaboration, stating, "Something about it reminded me of Atoms for Peace, so I sent it to Thom." He added that Yorke is "just the warmest, free flowing, jamming motherfucker."

'Honora,' named after a cherished family member, is entirely composed and arranged by Flea. Flea showcases his talents on both bass and trumpet across its ten tracks, including the previously released 'A Plea.' He's joined by a stellar lineup of jazz and rock musicians, including producer/saxophonist Josh Johnson, guitarist Jeff Parker, bassist Anna Butterss, drummer Deantoni Parks, and guest vocals from Thom Yorke and Nick Cave. Mauro Refosco (Atoms for Peace) and Nate Walcott (Bright Eyes) also contribute their musical flair.

This spring, Flea will embark on a tour with his backing band, bringing 'Honora' to life on stage. The tour kicks off on May 7th in Chicago and will hit select cities across the United States, Canada, Germany, England, France, and the Netherlands, concluding on May 28th in Paris.

While the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been actively releasing music, including two albums in 2022 ('Unlimited Love' and 'Return of the Dream Canteen'), Flea has maintained a busy schedule outside the band. He's a published author, a movie actor, and the host of his own podcast, 'This Little Light.' Flea previously released a solo EP, 'Helen Burns,' in 2012.
