Ghetts Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison for Fatal Hit-and-Run
UK rap veteran Ghetts has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a student in London.

The celebrated MC Ghetts, a pivotal figure in bringing grime to the forefront of British culture, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a hit-and-run that tragically killed a student last October, according to the BBC reports. The artist, born Justin Clarke-Samuel, 41, admitted to causing the death of Nepalese student Yubin Tamang in Ilford, London, by driving at 60mph in a 30mph zone. He pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving and causing death by dangerous driving in December.
Prosecutors stated that Ghetts had consumed alcohol on the night of the incident. Furthermore, he ran several red lights and failed to stop after the crash. His car was identified through a damaged wing mirror casing found at the scene, which police traced back to his address.
Ghetts, who also starred in the Netflix superhero series Supacell, expressed “extreme regret, shame, and remorse” about Tamang’s death in court. He added, “This may be the only chance that I get to apologise. It was truly an unintentional act on my part and I am so sincerely sorry for the suffering and emotional distress that I have caused.”
