Gloria Trevi and Lola Índigo to Receive Honors at Billboard Latin Women in Music 2024

Gloria Trevi and Lola Índigo will be celebrated at the fourth annual Billboard Latin Women in Music event, joining a star-studded list of honorees. The event will air live on Telemundo on April 23.

The fourth annual Billboard Latin Women in Music special, presented by Billboard and Telemundo, will honor Gloria Trevi and Lola Índigo, it was announced Monday (April 13). These artists join Becky G, Ivy Queen, Joy, Julieta Venegas, and Young Miko, previously announced as honorees for this year's event.

The two-hour special will be broadcast live and exclusively on Telemundo on April 23 at 9 p.m. ET. According to a press release, the event will pay tribute to “Latin female artists who are driving meaningful change and championing inclusion across the music industry.” The show will also be available for streaming on Peacock and the Telemundo app.

Gloria Trevi will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement award, recognizing her enduring impact on music. Over several decades, the Mexican icon has cultivated a deep connection with audiences across generations, achieving significant milestones and performing on international stages.

Throughout her career, Trevi has achieved notable success on the Billboard charts, including a dozen entries on Hot Latin Songs, featuring hits like “Cinco Minutos,” “Con los Ojos Cerrados,” and her signature song, “Pelo Suelto.” Her 11 entries on Top Latin Albums include seven top 10s and four No. 1 albums: Gloria (2011), El Amor (2015), Inmortal (2016), and Versus (2017), the latter a collaboration with Alejandra Guzmán.

"At this moment in my life, receiving this recognition fills me with strength and gratitude,” Trevi stated. “This honor confirms to me that everything that comes in life should be met with honest work and positivity. Hate is defeated with love, and music is something I love.”

Lola Índigo will receive the Evolution award, which recognizes artists whose careers demonstrate continuous growth, creative transformation, and the courage to reinvent themselves while staying true to their essence. Since gaining fame on Operación Triunfo, the singer and dancer has become a prominent and innovative figure in Spanish pop. She has since become one of Spain’s most celebrated artists, known for hit songs, ambitious creative projects, and performances on the country’s biggest stages.

Lola Índigo reached the top 10 on the Billboard Argentina Hot 100 chart with her collaboration on Maria Becerra’s “High,” also featuring Tini. The track peaked at No. 2 in 2020 and was voted by Billboard readers as the “Best Latin Remix of the Summer” that year. According to a press release, “Her journey exemplifies resilience, risk-taking, and constant evolution, proving that true success lies not only in longevity but in continuously challenging and elevating her artistry.”

As previously announced, Becky G will be honored with the Global Impact award, Ivy Queen with the Pioneer award, Joy with the Spirit of Change award, Julieta Venegas with the Artistic Excellence award, and Young Miko with the Unstoppable Artist award.

Billboard Latin Women in Music is an annual televised gala dedicated to celebrating Latin women artists who are driving positive change and promoting greater inclusion within the music industry. Now in its fourth year, the event serves as a platform where prominent figures in Latin music gather for an evening of music and camaraderie.

Last year’s honorees included Anitta (Vanguard award), Belinda (Evolution award), Celia Cruz (Legend award), Chiquis (Impact award), Ha*Ash (Unbreakable award), Natti Natasha (Unstoppable Artist award), Olga Tañón (Lifetime Achievement award), and Selena Gomez (Woman of the Year). Previous honorees include Gloria Estefan, Thalia, and Shakira, among others.
