Greg Mendez Announces New Album 'Beauty Land,' Shares "I Wanna Feel Pretty" Video
Philadelphia singer-songwriter Greg Mendez has announced his new album, Beauty Land, his first full-length release on Dead Oceans. He also shared the lead single, "I Wanna Feel Pretty," along with a music video.

Greg Mendez has officially announced his forthcoming album, Beauty Land, slated for release on May 29th. This marks the Philadelphia singer-songwriter’s debut full-length project with Dead Oceans, since signing with the label in 2024. To accompany the announcement, Mendez has dropped the lead single, "I Wanna Feel Pretty," alongside a visually striking music video directed by Rhys Scarabosio.
Beauty Land delves into weighty themes of grief, love, and addiction. Mendez crafted the album in his home studio in Pennsylvania, recording directly to tape. This album follows his critically acclaimed self-titled release in 2023.
In a press statement, Mendez elaborated on the inspiration behind the "I Wanna Feel Pretty" video: "I spent most of my childhood in the suburbs, surrounded by the American Dream. Grand and lonely, strip malls and housing developments. Cathedrals of consumerism and reconstituted culture."
He further explained, "The stores weren’t built for the towns, the towns were built for the stores. No one really belongs. The dream is close enough to smell but as soon as you reach out, your hand passes right through—a hologram of a promise. I hoped this video would feel like that."
In support of the new album, Mendez will embark on an extensive North American tour this summer, joined by Maria BC and Scarlet Rae. The tour spans numerous cities across the United States and includes two Canadian dates in Vancouver and Toronto. A complete list of tour dates is below.
