Harry Styles Channels LCD Soundsystem's Energy for New Album
Harry Styles reveals LCD Soundsystem's live performances inspired his new album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, sharing insights into his evolving sound and creative process.

The ever-stylish Harry Styles is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, which includes a staggering 30-night residency at Madison Square Garden with Jamie xx. With the lead single "Aperture" already making waves, Styles is now opening up about the influences behind his new sonic direction.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Styles described the album as rooted in "classic pop songwriting" but heavily influenced by his experiences dancing and immersing himself in music as an audience member. He emphasized the importance of rediscovering how to "be a real audience member" after years in the spotlight.
However, the real revelation came when Styles mentioned LCD Soundsystem. He told Greg James of Radio 1 that witnessing LCD Soundsystem's live shows had a profound impact: "It's so joyous when you're watching them be so immersed in it. The inspiration from them came of, like, 'Oh, that's how I wanna feel when I'm onstage,' and that led to the kind of music I was making."
Beyond LCD Soundsystem, Styles noted that his collaborator Kid Harpoon's experimentation with modular synths, coupled with his own listening habits – including new wave artists like Durutti Column – helped shape the album's sound.
When pressed about the album's title, Styles offered a characteristically enigmatic explanation: "I think you could say oh, you know, 'drink water all the time, but you're going to have to pee occasionally.' You don't necessarily keep drinking. You can have a break from kissing if you want, or you could also drink water while peeing. I think it's kind of optional. I think the idea is you take a break from kissing to disco." Interpret that as you will.
In other news, Styles also recounted his impromptu visit to the announcement of the new Pope in Rome, explaining, "I was getting a haircut in Rome... I was like, 'Oh, I'm five minutes' walk from there,' so I walked over there.' It was wild."

While Styles has been making the rounds with various interviews, the key takeaway is clear: he's embracing a new, more interesting musical direction. Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally drops on March 6th via Erskine/Columbia.
