Hilary Duff Returns: Inside 'Luck... or Something,' Her First Album in Nearly a Decade
Hilary Duff makes a triumphant return to music with 'Luck... or Something,' her first studio album in almost 11 years, exploring themes of motherhood, marriage, and self-discovery.

After a decade-long wait, Hilary Duff has released her highly anticipated sixth studio album, Luck… or Something. The album dropped at midnight, marking a significant moment for fans who have eagerly awaited new music from the artist.
Luck… or Something is Duff’s first album since Breathe In. Breathe Out, which was released in June 2015. The new record, released through Atlantic Records, features 11 tracks, including previously released singles “Mature” and “Roommates.” The album delves into themes of motherhood, marriage, and self-discovery in her 30s.
Duff shared her perspective on balancing her personal and professional life: "There’s that question of whether women can have it all, and through this process I learned I had to sacrifice some things in order to put the record first. As hard as that is, I still believe it’s okay to choose yourself sometimes and do what scares the hell out of you.” She emphasized the significance of creating the album, stating, “carving out the time to make an album after all these years was incredibly powerful for me, and now I can’t wait to share it with the world.”
The album is co-written by Duff and produced by her husband, Matthew Koma (known for his work with Britney Spears and P!nk), along with Brian Phillips (who has collaborated with Alec Benjamin and blink-182). It reflects her journey and experiences in the industry.
In a statement, Duff explained the album's title: “I constantly get asked how I still have my head on straight after growing up in this industry. The album title is my way of answering that question, which felt right for a record that’s about where I’ve landed and all the things I’ve been through along the way.”
To support the release, Duff will embark on her first full-scale global headline tour in almost two decades. The tour includes dates across the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, commencing in West Palm Beach, FL, and continuing until February 2027. Duff has a strong track record on the Billboard 200 chart, with five consecutive top 10 appearances, including two No. 1 albums: Metamorphosis (2003) and Most Wanted (2005). She has also charted seven titles on the Billboard Hot 100.
