J. Cole Opens Up About Drake and Kendrick Lamar Beef: 'I Genuinely Love These N***as'
J. Cole addresses his relationships with Drake and Kendrick Lamar after their highly publicized rap battle, and discusses Cam'ron's lawsuit against him.
Two years after the rap beef involving the so-called Big 3 – Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and J. Cole – the echoes are still reverberating through the hip-hop landscape.
J. Cole recently sat down with Cam'ron on his Talk With Flee interview series. He addressed several burning topics, including Cam'ron's lawsuit filed against him in October, and his current standing with Drake and Kendrick following their historic clash.
"Right away, the world became like politics," Cole stated, responding to Cam'ron's question about whether things escalated too quickly. "You either Democrat or Republican, you either Kendrick or you Drake, and you have to pick a side. And I felt like the n—a that was disgusted both ways, damn near. To me, it’s like disgusting how people try to use that opportunity to either show how they really felt about Drake the whole time or just pile on and tear this dude down and create a narrative as if he’s not great."
Cam'ron then inquired about the current state of Cole's friendships with Kendrick and Drake.
"I’m in the same place," Cole responded. "Where it’s like, Yo, I genuinely love these n—as, but I’m not going to act like we’ve been communicating and talking. I’ve had conversations with them post-everything, but it’s not like it’s a lot. That’s me not knowing where they at. Me maybe assuming, ’cause I done heard x-y-and-z, but it has nothing to do with how I actually feel. I genuinely love these n—as. I be wanting to shoot off a text, you know what I mean? Even saying that on a mic is kind of lame to me, but it is my truth."
In another clip, they discussed Cam'ron's ongoing lawsuit against J. Cole. Cam'ron asked about Cole's initial reaction to the lawsuit. "I was like hurt, almost disappointed," he admitted. "Like, ‘Nah, Cam, not you.'"
Cole's full interview with Cam'ron drops later this week, in which they also address Cam filing a lawsuit against Cole.
