James Blake Requests Removal From Kanye West's 'Bully' Credits
James Blake has requested his name be removed from the producer credits of Kanye West's new album, Bully, citing creative differences in the final version of the track "This One Here."

Kanye West finally released his long-delayed album Bully on Friday, March 29th, after a nearly two-year rollout marked by numerous hurdles. The release was supported by four listening parties and a YouTube live stream before hitting DSPs over the weekend. Now, producer James Blake has requested to have his name removed from the credits on the album’s closing track “This One Here.”
According to Blake, who addressed the situation on his direct-to-fan music platform Vault, the version appearing on the album retains some of his original construction and vocal pitching, but the core spirit of his production is largely absent. Blake is currently credited as a co-writer on the track alongside Don Toliver, Quentin Miller, and West, who now goes by Ye. Blake and Ye previously collaborated on an LP in 2015.
"My original version is a completely different production in spirit," Blake wrote of “This One Here.” "Happy for the fans but I’ve asked to be taken off the producer credits for now as I don’t want to take credit for other people’s work and this version isn’t what I created with Ye."
"It’s not personal!" Blake concluded. "I just hit a point where [I] don’t want to be credited on music where I can’t affect the end result."
Bully, out now via YZY and the independent label Gamma, is Ye’s first new LP since 2024 and features Nine Vicious, Travis Scott, CeeLo Green, André Troutman, Peso Pluma, Don Toliver, and Ty Dolla Sign. Blake released his latest album, Trying Times, earlier this month via his label Good Boy Records.
