Johnny Knoxville announces the end of the Jackass era with the upcoming movie, promising an 'absolutely awful' but fitting finale.

Johnny Knoxville Declares Upcoming 'Jackass' Film Will Be the Franchise's Last

In a recent interview, Johnny Knoxville revealed that the upcoming Jackass movie will mark the end of the iconic franchise.

Last month, Knoxville shared that a new Jackass movie is slated for release in cinemas this summer.

The franchise, which began as a TV show on MTV in 2000, featured Knoxville, Steve-O, Bam Margera, and others pushing their limits with dangerous and shocking stunts.

Since 2002, four films have been released, including Jackass Forever in 2022.

Knoxville took to social media in January to announce the new film, stating, "We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!!"

The movie is set to be available from June 26. Details remain under wraps, but Knoxville wanted fans "to hear it from us first."

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Knoxville stated that this installment "will be the last one."

"This is the natural place to end," Knoxville told the publication. "So it’s going to be absolutely awful."

The new film will be released via Paramount Pictures. Jackass Forever featured Steve-O, Eric Manaka, Zach Holmes, Rachel Wolfson, and Sean “Poopies” McInerney.

There are reports that Bam Margera could appear in the new film. TMZ reported that old and previously unseen footage featuring Margera is set to be included.

A source told the outlet that Jackass producers contacted Margera’s team late last year to inform them about the new installment, which is expected to bring back classic stunts using old and new material.

The news of the new film follows Knoxville's 2022 announcement that he was planning to retire from “big stunts” after suffering a brain haemorrhage while filming Jackass Forever. He sustained severe injuries after being kicked by a bull for the movie.

In a four-star review of Jackass Forever, NME described it as “pure, prank-filled fun (plus a lot of testicles),” adding: “There’s a kindness and companionship – and freedom – to Jackass Forever that makes for 90 minutes of pure joy. Remember joy?”
