Joshua Chuquimia Crampton Announces New Album 'Anata,' Shares "Ch'uwanchaña ~El Golpe Final~"

The prolific Los Thuthanaka member, Joshua Chuquimia Crampton, has unveiled details for his forthcoming album. Anata is slated for release on February 6 via Puro Fantasía. Fans can get a taste of the new record with the lead single, "Ch'uwanchaña El Golpe Final," which is available now.

According to Chuquimia Crampton, Anata is a deeply personal project. “This album is dedicated to Anata, the Andean ceremony where we celebrate the Pachamama (Mother Earth) before the rainy season, giving thanks for harvest with offerings & the principle of reciprocity (Ayni) between humans/nature,” he explained in a statement. “I present it in a production style much like trying to capture a ceremony or a natural phenomenon with a phone camera.”

To celebrate the release of Anata, a special event is planned for February 6 in San Francisco, in collaboration with Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits (BAAITS) and Sacramento Red Road Gathering. The event will feature a screening of Amaru’s Tongue: Daughter—a film Chuquimia Crampton created with his sibling and Los Thuthanaka bandmate, Chuquimamani-Condori—a live performance, and an intertribal healing circle. Anata marks Chuquimia Crampton's first full-length release since the self-titled Los Thuthanaka album, a surprise collaboration with Chuquimamani-Condori that dropped in March 2025. The duo previously showcased tracks from Los Thuthanaka at Pitchfork's 2025 holiday party. Before this, Chuquimia Crampton released his solo album, Estrella Por Estrella, in 2024.

Notably, Los Thuthanaka secured the No. 1 spot on “The 50 Best Albums of 2025.”
