Kanye West Denies AI Involvement in Upcoming Album 'Bully'

Kanye West has publicly denied using AI in the creation of his upcoming album, Bully, contradicting earlier statements. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), shared Wednesday, March 25, the rapper unveiled the 13-song tracklist for Bully, including tracks like “Beauty and the Beast” and “Preacher Man,” emphatically stating, “BULLY ON THE WAY NO AI.”

This declaration marks a shift from West's previous stance. Last year, in an interview with Justin LaBoy, West discussed integrating AI into his creative process, likening it to his use of Auto-Tune: “It’s a tool, not a replacement.” Observers noted West's use of Audimee, an AI-powered vocal transformation platform, during the conversation.

"It's time for me to explain to people the power of AI in music,” West stated in the interview, elaborating on his use of AI stem splitters. “Right now, you can take any song and separate it—just get the vocals, just get the bass line, the drums—and completely isolate it. So when I send a song or a sample to my engineers, I just say, 'JS [his engineer, John Scott], AI.’” However, sources close to West, including manager Peter Jideonwo and former Yeezy chief of staff Milo Yiannopoulos, have since asserted that Bully is devoid of AI influence.

West initially teased Bully in September 2024, previewing “Beauty and the Beast” during a performance in Haikou, China. In 2025, he released a short film, Bully V1, featuring his son, Saint West, which showcased a significant portion of the album's tracklist. Earlier this year, West confirmed the album's scheduled release date of March 20 via Gamma, an independent music company. To date, no official release has occurred.

The period since the initial announcement of Bully has been marked by controversy for West. He faced accusations of sexual assault and sexual battery in late 2024 and sparked outrage with antisemitic remarks in early 2025. In January, West published an apology in The Wall Street Journal, attributing his behavior to bipolar disorder and a frontal-lobe injury sustained in a 2002 car accident.
