Lil Nas X Granted Mental Health Diversion in Battery Case: Charges to Be Dropped
Lil Nas X has been granted a mental health diversion following his arrest last summer. If he completes the program, the charges will be dropped.

Following his arrest last summer for battery of a police officer in Los Angeles, Lil Nas X faced four felony charges and potential jail time. The artist, whose real name is Montero Hill, had previously spoken about his mental health struggles. Now, it appears those charges may soon be behind him.
A judge has granted Lil Nas X a mental health diversion, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office via Billboard. If he successfully completes his prescribed mental health treatment over the next two years and avoids further legal trouble, the charges stemming from the August incident will be dismissed.
According to Rolling Stone, Judge Alan Schneider stated during the hearing that the rapper's behavior was linked to his bipolar disorder diagnosis, characterizing the altercation with police as "aberrant from his normal conduct." A final decision on whether to expunge LNX's record is expected in April 2028.
After the hearing, a "thankful" Lil Nas X told reporters he was "just going through the flow of life" and shared a message of love and appreciation to his fans.
Here is footage of him leaving the courthouse:
