Lindsey Buckingham Attacked: Suspected Stalker Throws Unknown Liquid
Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham was reportedly attacked in Santa Monica by a suspected stalker who doused him with an unidentified liquid. Investigation is ongoing.

Reports indicate that Lindsey Buckingham was unharmed after a woman attacked him with an unknown substance on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred as Buckingham arrived for an appointment in Santa Monica, according to the Los Angeles Times and NBC4 Investigates.
According to reports, as the musician entered the building, the woman threw an unknown liquid substance from a container at him.
“The Los Angeles Police Department’s Threat Management Unit is working with the Santa Monica Police Department to investigate this incident. To protect the integrity of the open and ongoing investigation, no further comment will be provided at this time,” the LAPD said in a statement to Rolling Stone.
Santa Monica Police have identified the suspect as a suspected stalker, according to NBC4 Investigates. The unnamed woman has allegedly been involved in past incidents of stalking involving Buckingham. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to the L.A. Times that the woman has a history of stalking Buckingham. As of now, no arrest has been made.
Authorities believe the woman discovered the location and timing of Buckingham’s appointment and followed him. The investigation is ongoing.
Representatives for Buckingham have not yet responded to requests for comment.
Last week, Buckingham shared his plans for 2026, including new music, in a video on his Instagram account.
"I am still very, very grounded in my creative life,” he said. “I’ve been working on a new solo album for the last couple of years, which is one song away from being finished.” Buckingham also mentioned the upcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary may arrive this year.
Notably, the musician acknowledged his complicated relationship with Stevie Nicks. In 2025, the duo reissued their 1973 debut album Buckingham Nicks for the first time in decades and have apparently reconciled. “I think on a more general level, just the energy in terms of what Buckingham Nicks did to sort of create a resurgence of connection between Stevie and myself, I think on a larger scale, that seems to be something that’s in the air,” he said. “And what that translates to specifically, I wouldn’t want to speculate yet. But I believe with all my heart, it will translate to something good, and something wonderful, and something needed and something extremely appropriate.”
