Moby Announces 'Future Quiet' Album, Featuring Jacob Lusk Collab

Electronic music pioneer Moby is venturing further into ambient soundscapes with his upcoming album, Future Quiet. The album, a follow-up to Ambient 23, will be released on February 20th via BMG. Moby cites influences from iconic groups such as Cocteau Twins and This Mortal Coil.

The lead single is a reworked version of his 1995 track "When It’s Cold I’d Like to Die," now featuring the stunning vocals of Jacob Lusk from Gabriels. Fans may recognize the original song from its appearances in the hit series Stranger Things.

Of the collaboration, Moby expressed his admiration for Lusk's talent: “Like anyone who’s heard Jacob sing, I immediately fell in love with his voice... The results speak for themselves, as his vocals on ‘When It’s Cold I’d Like to Die’ are, I say with something approaching objectivity, transcendent.”

Moby elaborated on the album's inspirations, stating that Future Quiet reflects his diverse musical background, drawing from both hardcore punk and the serene sounds of artists like This Mortal Coil and Brian Eno.

Besides Jacob Lusk, Future Quiet also features guest appearances from Serpentwithfeet, Elise Serenelle, and India Carney. A major tour in support of the album is expected to be announced soon.
