Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize Unleash "Nine Inch Noize" Live Album After Electrifying Coachella Set
After teasing fans with electrifying performances, Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize drop a surprise live album, 'Nine Inch Noize,' capturing their innovative collaborations. Trent Reznor also hints at new NIN music on the horizon.
The Nine Inch Noize set at Coachella was a spectacle to behold, an expansion of the mini-sets previously showcased during the Nine Inch Nails' Peel It Back arena tour with dance producer Boys Noize. These performances featured club-infused spins on NIN classics, complemented by a futuristic stage design, offering a fresh and exciting take on familiar tracks.
Before their Coachella performance, NIN subtly announced the Nine Inch Noize record via a billboard. Now, the album is out, revealing itself as a live recording of their collaborative onstage work. This project isn't a collection of newly recorded material, but rather a capture of the dynamic collaborations between NIN and Boys Noize.
The album features "Nine Inch Noize" versions of 12 songs, plus an intro, pieced together from recordings taken "all over the place — some of it’s live, some in studios, hotels, planes, etc.," according to Trent Reznor.
In a press release, Reznor shared the genesis of the project, dispelled rumors of an extended tour, and teased the early stages of new Nine Inch Nails music:
> The creative fulfillment of working on the Challengers and TRON scores with Boys Noize led me to think that including him in the Peel It Back tour could be an interesting way to express NIN in more purely electronic terms live – a concept I’ve wanted to explore for some time. The result was so much fun for us we felt it was worth expanding and formalizing in some way.

> On a whim I mentioned it would be cool to play a whole set as Nine Inch Noize in the Sahara tent at Coachella. Careful what you wish for…the next thing I knew we were designing a whole new show to present in the way it deserved.

> There’s no surprise tour announcement – this Saturday is it. I’m taking Sunday off and excited to be working on new Nine Inch Nails music Monday – I’ll see you when I come up for air.

> We recorded this album all over the place – some of it’s live, some in studios, hotels, planes, etc. We had a lot of fun revisiting these songs and hope you enjoy. Listen LOUD.
