Olivia Rodrigo Unveils New Album Inspirations, Receives Encouragement from Jack White, and Partners with FC Barcelona
Olivia Rodrigo is set to host and perform on SNL, discussed her new album on The Tonight Show, received a supportive note from Jack White, and partnered with FC Barcelona.

This weekend Olivia Rodrigo will be doing double duty as host and musical guest on SNL. Taking a break from rehearsals at Rockefeller Center, she sat down with Jimmy Fallon on last night's Tonight Show to talk about the upcoming show, along with the major week she's had so far: She announced a massive tour and made history as the first artist to debut the lead singles from her first three albums at #1 when "Drop Dead" became the fourth #1 hit of her career.
Rodrigo talked with Fallon about her upcoming album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love and her favorite sad love songs — "Love Song" by The Cure or "Video Games" by Lana Del Rey. She shared that some songs from the new album are inspired by the relationship between legendary TV couple Miranda and Steve from Sex And The City.
Rodrigo also shared a very cute story that happened to her earlier that morning. She'd been talking to musician and pal Jack White, who recently was musical guest on SNL when Jack Black hosted, about her upcoming hosting gig, and he mentioned that he'd leave a note for her in the dressing room. She didn't think anything of it until she received a text from White about making sure to "look up." She frantically searched through the ceiling tiles until she discovered an envelope taped at the top of a closet. In it was a yellow rose and note that read "Kill It Kid" which, knowing White, is likely a Blind Willie McTell reference. I am sure she will!
Rodrigo will perform "Drop Dead" along with a new unheard single on SNL. Maybe it will be that one she sang with Weyes Blood in LA.
It was also announced today that she is the latest musician to have a kit with the Spotify-sponsored FC Barcelona. Her jersey will be worn by the women’s team in their Liga F match next week on May 6. On May 8 she will perform a private show in Barcelona.
Check that out below, along with Rodrigo's Fallon interview and footage of her uncovering the letter.
