Pattie Boyd Feels Snubbed by Beatles Biopic: 'Nobody Approached Me'

Pattie Boyd has expressed that she hasn't been contacted regarding the upcoming Beatles biopics, despite the casting of an actress to play her.

Sam Mendes' ambitious four-film series, slated for release in April 2028, will explore the band's story from each member's perspective. The cast includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.

Other actors joining the project include Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Mia McKenna-Bruce, and Aimee Lou Wood, who will portray Linda McCartney, Yoko Ono, Maureen Starkey, and Boyd, respectively. Mendes has described these women as "fascinating and unique figures."

Boyd's connection to the Beatles is significant, having first met Harrison on the set of A Hard Day’s Night in 1964. They married in 1966 but divorced in 1977. Recently, on the podcast Miss O’Dell: Abbey Road To Tulsa Time, hosted by Chris O’Dell, Boyd revealed her surprise at the lack of contact from the biopic's production team.

"Now, I might be completely wrong, but I would have thought it would be polite to mention it to me or let me know that they got someone who’s going to be playing me," Boyd stated, expressing her bewilderment at not being consulted.

She continued, "Don’t you think they’d let me know? Well, I haven’t been contacted by anyone. I could have really told them great stories. But I don’t think they want to know. I think they want to create something that’s completely different, like a different story."

Boyd suggested that the biopics might stray from reality, driven more by the filmmaker's interpretation than factual accounts. She quipped about Mendes, "Somebody said he was famous. Apparently he’s famous, this man."

In contrast, Giles Martin, son of the legendary Beatles producer George Martin, discussed his involvement in Mendes' films last November. He told NME, "I’m working with the actors and they’re doing a really good job, that’s all I can say. The scripts are really good and brave, as opposed to being anodyne."

Earlier this year, fans got a sneak peek at the actors in character, noting Mescal's resemblance to McCartney.

McCartney himself jokingly commented on Mescal's suitability for the role during The Late Show, playfully acknowledging Mescal's charm.

Mescal previously stated that fans would "benefit from knowing as little as possible" about the films beforehand, emphasizing the unique and performance-driven nature of the project. He also shared that he's doing his own singing and has spent time with McCartney in preparation.
