Phoebe Bridgers Unveils 'The Lost Tour' After Secret Madison Square Garden Performance

Last night, the indie phenomenon Phoebe Bridgers took the stage at Madison Square Garden, a stark contrast to the smaller, more intimate venues she's been gracing over the past month. These preceding pop-up shows were characterized by their last-minute announcements, physical ticket sales (one per person), and a strict ban on recording devices.

Bridgers' decision to enforce a phone-free experience in an arena as grand as Madison Square Garden—a venue typically buzzing with digital capture—underscores her commitment to undivided attention from her audience. Onstage, she hinted at what was to come, and now, the news is official.

"The Lost Tour" will see Phoebe Bridgers embark on a comprehensive arena tour across North America in September and October, with acclaimed artist Alex G joining as support. The tour then crosses the Atlantic for a European leg in November and December, featuring Isaac Wood, formerly the frontman of Black Country, New Road, who departed the band in 2022 due to mental health struggles.

Isaac Wood shared his excitement, noting, "it just says my name but it’s actually going to be a band, me and @anaismeir have written the songs." This marks a significant return to the live stage for Wood, promising new material.

Consistent with her recent performances, all shows on "The Lost Tour" will be phone-free. Attendees will secure their devices in Yondr pouches, ensuring a fully immersive experience devoid of digital distractions. Furthermore, Phoebe Bridgers continues her philanthropic efforts, donating $1 from each ticket sale to RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization.

Tickets for the special Madison Square Garden show cost merely one dollar, requiring fans to win a lottery and make an additional donation to the Immigration Bond Freedom Fund. The event’s strict rules extended beyond phones, prohibiting even pens or pencils, highlighting the desire for a truly in-the-moment experience.

According to reports from Billboard, a select group of journalists were granted access to the MSG performance, under the condition that they would not reveal any new song titles or lyrics. Phoebe Bridgers reportedly played eight new tracks, including one making its debut, suggesting a significant body of work for her highly anticipated follow-up to 2020’s critically acclaimed Punisher.

Her backing band for the MSG show was minimalist, featuring only guitarist Christian Lee Hutson and keyboardist Nick White. Billboard’s Hannah Dailey described the new material as exploring themes of love's deterioration, the desire for personal improvement, and a deeper examination of mortality, including a particularly poignant song addressed to her late father.

From the stage, Phoebe Bridgers expressed her gratitude to the audience for their donations to the Immigration Bond Freedom Fund, delivering a pointed message: "I hate those ICE idiots." She then offered the MSG crowd an exclusive early announcement of the tour, a day before the public reveal.
