Tracy Zamot, a prominent figure in music publicity, has died at the age of 56. Her career spanned over 30 years, during which she represented a diverse range of artists, from Matchbox 20 to Lil Wayne, and prominent companies including SiriusXM.
At the time of her passing, Zamot was a communications specialist for the Tribeca Festival and the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, according to her LinkedIn profile. However, she built her foundation within major record labels. Variety was the first to report her death.
Publicist Laurie Jacobson of Jaybird Communications shared a heartfelt memory: "Tracy and I met early in our careers when I was a young publicist at Shorefire faxing her ticket requests at Atlantic for Everything but the Girl’s tour dates back in 1994. Twenty-five years later, she joined me at Jaybird and she was just a joy to work with. She was creative, funny and a very big Public Enemy fan. We used to do an album club during COVID and when it was her turn, she picked It Takes A Nation of Millions. I’m devastated to hear of her passing, and my heart breaks for her daughter, Grace, and her family."
Zamot, a 1991 graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, began her career at Capitol Records before joining Atlantic Records in 1992 as a tour publicist. During her decade-long tenure, she collaborated with acts like Rush, Phil Collins, Collective Soul, and Led Zeppelin, eventually rising to the position of VP of publicity. She later worked at Virgin EMI Records with artists such as Lenny Kravitz and Iggy Pop and served as senior VP of publicity at Universal Motown Records before transitioning into corporate communications.
From 2015 to 2017, Zamot served as director of artist and music industry communications at Pandora, before becoming VP of corporate communications at SiriusXM in 2018. She was with Jaybird from 2019 to 2022.
She was preceded in death by her husband, radio executive John Loscalzo, in 2015. They had been together since she was 20 and leave behind their teenage daughter, Gracie.
