Rosalía Shines in Madrid After Milan Setback: Lux Tour Kicks Off Spanish Leg
Rosalía's Lux Tour hits Madrid after a brief illness, showcasing a spectacular performance and a deep connection with the city.

After a cancellation in Milan due to food poisoning, Rosalía ignited the Madrid stage at the Movistar Arena, marking the beginning of the Spanish leg of her Lux Tour. The Catalan artist demonstrated she was fully recovered, delivering a high-energy performance marked by intense emotion.
"How are we feeling tonight? I’m so happy to be here,” she shared with the crowd. "Last week, I wasn’t feeling too well, but I’m much better now,” she added, prompting enthusiastic applause. The audience remained notably attentive, creating respectful silences punctuated by passionate outbursts during key moments.
The show mirrored its Lyon debut, featuring a setlist exceeding 20 songs, segmented into four distinct acts. An orchestra of around 20 musicians anchored the performance, as Rosalía seamlessly transitioned between dramatic theatrical displays and electronic segments.
The connection with Madrid was undeniable throughout the evening. “Madrid, tonight is special… it’s the first night in the capital with all my ‘chulapos’ and ‘chulapas,’” Rosalía expressed. “I’ve been coming here for more than a decade… it’s a city I love deeply and one that holds so many memories for me.”
She fondly recalled early performances at Casa Patas, a renowned flamenco venue. “I remember feeling the magic there like nowhere else. Who would have thought that a decade later I’d be here, filling this arena? It’s incredible… life really comes full circle,” she reflected, visibly moved.
A highlight of the night was “Mio Cristo,” a particularly challenging piece. “Who here knows it, even if it’s in Italian?” she asked, met with an enthusiastic singalong from the audience.
The concert also included lighter moments, such as her rendition of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” where Rosalía struck a pose reminiscent of the Mona Lisa before engaging directly with fans. She invited audience members onstage, singing to them intimately.
The interaction remained constant and personal, despite the venue's size. Before “Sauvignon Blanc,” seated at a piano, Rosalía connected with a fan, bridging the gap between performer and audience. Humor was injected into the show with content creator Soy Una Pringada (Esty), who delivered humorous “sins” before Rosalía performed “La Perla.”
Later, the arena vibrated with “Despechá.” “Madrid loves mambo. Long live Dominican mambo, and long live flamenco too!” she exclaimed.
The performance concluded with “Magnolias,” staged as a symbolic funeral, stripped down to its essence. The artist vanished in a beam of light after the final note.
The Lux Tour continues with additional Madrid dates (April 1, 3, and 4), followed by Lisbon, Portugal (April 8 and 9), and Barcelona (April 13, 15, 17, and 18). The U.S. leg begins June 4 in Miami, with stops in Boston, New York, Chicago, and Las Vegas.
