Shaq's Social Media Reality Check: From Tupac Confusion to Sabrina Carpenter DM Parody
Shaquille O'Neal confronts the unreliability of social media, addressing a fake DM scandal involving Sabrina Carpenter on his podcast after a discussion about a false rumor involving Jim Jones and Tupac.

Social media: a minefield of misinformation. If you need a reminder, check out Jim Jones' recent appearance on Shaquille O'Neal's The Big Podcast. The conversation took an unexpected turn when Shaq, after dispelling a false rumor about Jones and Tupac, highlighted the absurdity of online fabrications.
"I never met Tupac in my life," Jones stated, prompting Shaq to declare, "This is why I hate social media."
The revelation came as Shaq addressed a faked Instagram conversation from the meme account @nba_flames. The fabricated DM depicted Shaq sending a bizarre pick-up line to Sabrina Carpenter: "Damn baby, I would keep your farts in a cologne bottle and spray it on me every day. Just jokes, I'm Shaq. What's your name, baby?"
The NBA legend questioned the authenticity of the post, pointing out the ridiculousness of asking Carpenter her name after already sliding into her DMs. "Is this me?" he asked Jones and cohost Bailey Jackson. "First of all, ladies, the Diesel got way more game than that."
Ironically, Shaq's discussion of the fake DM actually amplified its reach, sending it into viral territory. The incident underscores the power of social media to spread misinformation, even when debunked.

On a brighter note, Sabrina Carpenter recently snagged Pop Artist Of The Year at the iHeart Radio Awards for the second consecutive year, though she was absent from the ceremony.
