Skrillex, the undisputed master of the surprise drop, has once again materialized new music from the ether. His latest unexpected offering, the 13-track album Soma, is officially out now, reaffirming his reputation for keeping listeners on their toes.
Soma isn't a solo journey; it features an intriguing roster of collaborators including Tracey, Blawan, and RHR, among others. This diverse lineup hints at the sonic explorations within, promising a fresh chapter in the producer's ever-evolving sound.
The album arrives hot on the heels of several recent releases. Fans will recognize "Duro," his March single featuring Young Miko, which finds a home on Soma. This new collection follows his provocative 2025 album Fck U Skrillex You Think Ur Andy Warhol But Ur Not!! <3*, as well as two recent EPs, Kora and Hit Me Where It Hurts X. He also recently teamed up with Xaviersobased and Dylan Brady for the track "Party at My Place," showcasing his continued genre-bending collaborations.
Looking ahead, Skrillex is set to command the Cupra Pulse stage at Primavera Sound this weekend. He'll be curating a marathon 12-hour lineup, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time on Saturday, June 6. For those unable to make it to Spain, a livestream of his Friday night set, alongside performances from legendary acts like The Cure, The xx, and Oklou, will be available via the Primavera Sound 2026 livestream.
As Skrillex continues to defy expectations with his release strategy and genre fluidity, it's a fitting moment to reflect on the broader landscape of electronic music.
