SXSW 2024: Alanis Morissette, Jack Johnson, and More to Headline 40th Anniversary Edition
Alanis Morissette, Jack Johnson, and a diverse lineup of artists are set to perform at SXSW's 40th-anniversary edition, alongside keynotes and sessions featuring figures like Jane Fonda and Gavin Newsom.

Alanis Morissette, Jack Johnson, Ty Dolla $ign, Vic Mensa, and St. Vincent are among the headlining musical acts announced for SXSW's 40th-anniversary edition, kicking off March 12th. Morissette will headline Spotify 20: Live at Stubb’s on March 14th, celebrating Spotify’s 20th anniversary, joined by Ella Langley and a DJ set from St. Vincent.
Johnson will perform a special set on March 13th with Hermanos Gutiérrez ahead of the premiere of his documentary, SURFILMUSIC. Johnson and the Gutiérrez brothers co-wrote the film’s score and the single “Hold On to the Light” with Mario Caldato Jr.
Mensa will participate in a conference session on music's role in cinematic storytelling, followed by a showcase performance. Ty Dolla $ign and Benny the Butcher will enhance the hip-hop offerings, while ZHU and Hiroko Yamamura will feature in the festival’s dance programming. Ingrid Andress, Geordie Greep, The Paradox, and EMJAY bring the total to over 1,000 acts across Austin.
Spotify will host a session with Co-CEO Gustav Söderström and Lainey Wilson, a conversation between Nick Jonas and Dustee Jenkins, and a music conference with Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien.
The conference includes a keynote, Say It Louder: Artists, Activism & the First Amendment, with Jane Fonda, Jessica Weitz, and W. Kamau Bell. Gavin Newsom will participate in a Networth and Chill session, and Keke Palmer will host a live taping of her podcast with the cast of I Love Boosters. Serena Williams will lead a panel on founders in health, while Riz Ahmed will preview his series Bait. Demi Moore, Bob Odenkirk, Andy Cohen, Phil Schiller, Naomi Ackie, and Taylour Paige are also on the speaker roster, and Bill Burr will record a live podcast interview.
Rolling Stone’s Future of Music showcase runs three nights at ACL Live at the Moody Theater, with Lola Young, Fuerza Regida, and BigXthaPlug headlining from March 12 through 14. Billboard’s THE STAGE takes over Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park, headlined by Don Toliver, Junior H, and Mau P. The All-American Rejects open the week at Stubb’s on March 12, with Charley Crockett, Lainey Wilson, Passion Pit, Gogol Bordello, Los Lobos, and Marissa Nadler also performing.
The 40th edition of SXSW runs March 12–18 in downtown Austin.
