Taylor Swift Dominates 2025 American Music Awards Nominations: A Comprehensive Breakdown

The American Music Awards are back for their 52nd edition, scheduled to ignite the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 25th. This year, Taylor Swift reigns supreme with eight nominations, including the coveted Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. Following closely behind are Sabrina Carpenter, Morgan Wallen, Olivia Dean, and Sombr, each securing seven nominations.

Swift's monumental year is largely attributed to her groundbreaking 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. The album's lead single, "The Fate of Ophelia," is nominated for Song of the Year, Best Pop Song, and Best Music Video. "Elizabeth Taylor," lauded by critics as the album's centerpiece, vies for Song of the Summer, a newly added category among the eleven introduced this year. Should Swift clinch all eight awards, she will match Michael Jackson (1984) and Whitney Houston (1994) for the most wins in a single night.

Breakout artists Olivia Dean and Sombr are making their debut as nominees, competing head-to-head in categories such as New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Breakthrough Album of the Year. Other first-time nominees include Alex Warren, Teyana Taylor, BigXthaPlug, Katseye, Leon Thomas, PinkPantheress, Raye, Role Model, Sienna Spiro, and Tate McRae.

Meanwhile, Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, the voices behind Huntr/x in KPop Demon Hunters, are nominated in three categories—Song of the Year, Best Vocal Performance, and Best Pop Song—for their hit song “Golden” from the film.

This year's AMAs also mark the return of Queen Latifah as host, 30 years after her initial stint. "I am so excited to return to the American Music Awards stage to host this year," Latifah stated. "It’s been an incredible year for music and there is no better place to celebrate than in Vegas.”

The 52nd American Music Awards will be broadcast live on Monday, May 25th, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, starting at 8 p.m. E.T. on Paramount+ and CBS.
