Trump Slams Bad Bunny & Green Day's Super Bowl Halftime Show: 'It's a Terrible Choice'
Former U.S. President Donald Trump voices his disapproval of Bad Bunny and Green Day headlining the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show, citing it as a 'terrible choice' that 'sows hatred'.

Donald Trump has weighed in on the musical lineup for the 2026 Super Bowl, expressing his disapproval in a recent interview from the Oval Office.
Bad Bunny is set to headline the halftime show, and Green Day will kick off the game's opening ceremony at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Feb. 8. Trump didn't mince words about his feelings on the selections.
"I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible," Trump said, according to the New York Post.
Green Day has been critical of Trump for nearly a decade, notably at the American Music Awards in 2016, where they led a chant of "No Trump, no KKK, no fascist U.S.A."
More recently, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong voiced his disdain at a Jan. 17 concert in Los Angeles, altering lyrics in "American Idiot" to denounce "the MAGA agenda." During "Holiday," he pledged support for "our brothers and sisters in Minnesota" amid Trump’s immigration policies and ICE raids, declaring, "This song is anti-fascist. This song is anti-war."
Green Day is scheduled to commence Super Bowl LX with a pre-game performance of their iconic rock anthems, celebrating MVPs and 60 years of Super Bowl history.
In a trailer for his Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, Bad Bunny teased a performance that will make "the world will dance."
"What I’m feeling goes beyond myself," Bad Bunny stated upon the announcement. "It’s for those who came before me… this is for my people, my culture and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL."
Despite attending last year’s Super Bowl in New Orleans, Trump announced he would skip the 2026 game, citing the distance as the reason.
He added, "There’s ‘great hands’ [at] the Super Bowl. They like me."
Trump stated he would attend "if, you know, it was a little bit shorter," referring to the distance from the White House to the West Coast.
In addition to Bad Bunny and Green Day, the Super Bowl Sunday pre-game schedule includes Charlie Puth performing the national anthem, Brandi Carlile singing “America the Beautiful,” and Coco Jones singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
