UK Government Reviews Kanye West's Entry Amid Wireless Festival Backlash
The UK government is reportedly reviewing Kanye West's eligibility to enter the country following widespread condemnation of his Wireless Festival headlining booking due to past antisemitic remarks and associations.

Following widespread criticism over his booking as Wireless Festival headliner, Kanye West's right to enter the UK is now under government review.
As Ye, the controversial rapper was slated to headline all three nights of the festival in London’s Finsbury Park in July, with shows promising a journey through his “most iconic records”.
The booking sparked outrage, including from Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, who voiced “deep concern” over West's performance at Wireless, citing his history of anti-Semitic remarks and celebration of Nazism.
Subsequently, several festival sponsors, including Pepsi, Diageo, PayPal, and Rockstar Energy, severed ties with Wireless, intensifying pressure on the festival organizers.
The BBC reports that the UK government is now reviewing Ye’s right to enter the country. Ministers can ban foreign nationals whose presence is deemed “not conducive to the public good.” West has previously been denied entry to Australia.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan, the Jewish Leadership Council, and the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism have also condemned the decision.
This morning (April 6), Sajid David, chair of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, said he was “certain” the Home Secretary would block West if Wireless doesn’t cancel the shows.
West's history of anti-Semitic remarks dates back to 2022, leading to suspensions from Instagram and Twitter, and termination of partnerships with his lawyer, talent agency, record label, Balenciaga, and Adidas.
Initially, West refused to apologize, even suggesting Jewish people should “forgive Hitler.” However, in 2023, he apologized to the Jewish community, blaming alcohol for his behavior the following year.
Following his initial apology, lawsuits alleging extensive antisemitic behavior were filed against the rapper. One former employee claimed West said Jewish people were “working together to hold him back”.
Another former employee claimed he used anti-Semitic language and praised Hitler, allegedly resulting in a settlement. In 2024, another ex-employee accused him of being openly anti-Semitic in front of his staff.
In early 2025, West retracted his apology for anti-Semitic remarks and declared himself “a Nazi,” later claiming he'd realized he wasn't a Nazi, followed by swastika apparel appearing on his X page.
West has since apologized by meeting with a rabbi and taking out a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal.
During his tour kickoff earlier this week at the SoFi Stadium, West told the crowd: “Tonight we’re going to put all this behind us, ain’t that right LA?”
