Vince Staples Announces 'Cry Baby' Album, Drops Shooter-Style 'Blackberry Marmalade' Video
Vince Staples is launching a new chapter with his upcoming album, Cry Baby, marking his debut on Loma Vista and a venture into greater independence.
Ushering in a new era, Vince Staples has announced his new album, Cry Baby, slated for release on June 5th. This project marks the beginning of a more independent phase for the artist, serving as his debut under Loma Vista in partnership with his own label, Section Eight Arthouse. "As the world burns, I have decided to release this album," he stated.
The lead single, "Blackberry Marmalade," was released alongside a striking first-person shooter-style video co-directed by Staples and Bradley J. Calder.
As Staples pointed out, due to age restrictions on YouTube, the video should be shared with younger audiences by those over 18.
Built around live instrumentation, Cry Baby signifies Staples' autonomy. His move to Loma Vista, part of Concord Music Group, follows collaborations with Def Jam and Blacksmith, the label co-founded by Talib Kweli. His previous LP, Dark Times, was released in 2024.
