Animal Collective's Avey Tare and Geologist Announce Instrumental Album as Croz Boyce

Fans of Animal Collective, get ready! Dave Portner, known as Avey Tare, and Brian Weitz, aka Geologist, are teaming up for a new venture: an instrumental project called Croz Boyce. Their self-titled debut album drops on May 8th via Domino.

The lead single, "Hanging Out With a Blueberry Pop," is accompanied by a visually intriguing music video directed by professional snorkeler Joseph Ricketts. Prepare for a sonic and visual experience!

The name Croz Boyce pays homage to the late David Crosby, who passed away in 2023. It was around this time that Portner and Weitz began collaborating on this project. Working remotely from their respective homes in Asheville, North Carolina, and Washington, D.C., they crafted the album's unique sound. Adding to the Animal Collective family affair, Josh Dibb, also known as Deakin, handled the mixing duties.

In 2023, Animal Collective released Isn’t It Now? Avey Tare also shared his solo record, 7s, that same year. Meanwhile, Geologist unveiled his debut solo album, Can I Get a Pack of Camel Lights?, in January.
