Olof Dreijer Announces Debut Solo Album 'Loud Bloom,' Shares New Single "Echoed Dafnino"
Olof Dreijer, formerly of The Knife, is releasing his first solo album, 'Loud Bloom,' featuring a mix of previously released tracks and new material. Listen to the new single "Echoed Dafnino" featuring Maman.
Olof Dreijer, known for his work as one half of the influential Swedish synth-pop duo The Knife, has officially announced his debut solo album. Loud Bloom is set to drop on May 8 via DH2, the electronic music subsidiary of Dirty Hit.
The LP features a curated selection of tracks from the past three years, including "Rosa Rugosa," "Cassia," "Coral," "Acuyuye," "Blood Lily," and "Iris." Also included is a reworked version of "Camelia" from Dreijer’s 2023 Rosa Rugosa EP. Alongside the announcement, Dreijer has released a new single, "Echoed Dafnino," featuring the vocals of Sudanese singer Maman.
About "Echoed Dafnino", Dreijer said, “I was so moved the first time I heard the original version of ‘Dafnino.’ Maman’s voice is so beautiful. I wanted to make it work in my DJ sets, so I made my own version that I felt became more than just a remix so I thought it could be nice to include it on the album. The additional vocals he recorded made it feel very special too.”
In addition to his solo work, Olof Dreijer produced four tracks on Radical Romantics, the latest album by his sibling Karin Dreijer under her Fever Ray alias: “What They Call Us,” “Shiver,” “New Utensils,” and “Kandy.” He also collaborated with Mt. Sims for a steel drum music record that same year.
"Coral" was recognized as No. 42 in Pitchfork's The 100 Best Songs of 2024.
