Bad Bunny's Electrifying Super Bowl Halftime Show: A Celebration of Latin Culture
Bad Bunny made history as the first Latin artist to headline a Super Bowl halftime show primarily in Spanish, delivering an unforgettable performance filled with Puerto Rican pride and surprise guests.

Bad Bunny didn't just perform at the Super Bowl; he orchestrated a cultural phenomenon. As the first Latin artist to headline the halftime show with a performance primarily in Spanish, he seized the moment to celebrate his heritage and deliver an electrifying set that had the crowd on its feet.
He kicked off the performance with “Tití Me Preguntó,” walking through a vibrant set that paid homage to Puerto Rican traditions. The energy soared as he transitioned into “Yo Perreo Sola,” backed by an army of dancers.
The setlist was a non-stop barrage of reggaeton anthems, including “Safaera,” “Party,” “Voy a Llevarte a PR,” and “EoO.” Performing atop La Casita, the pink traditional Puerto Rican house that has become a signature of his shows, Bad Bunny brought special guests into the mix. Celebrities like Jessica Alba, Karol G, and Pedro Pascal were spotted enjoying the show from La Casita.
The biggest surprise of the night came when Lady Gaga joined Bad Bunny on stage for a salsa version of “Die With a Smile,” backed by Bad Bunny’s band Los Pleneros de la Cresta. They then transitioned into his salsa hit “Baile Inolvidable.”
Bad Bunny continued with “Nuevayol” before Ricky Martin appeared for “Lo Que Paso a Hawaii.” He then showcased his Puerto Rican pride with anthems like “El Apagón” and “Café con Ron,” before closing with “DtMf” amid a dazzling fireworks display. Throughout the performance, he made sure to shout out “God bless America!” and name every country in Latin America.
This wasn't Bad Bunny's first Super Bowl appearance; he previously joined Cardi B during Jennifer Lopez and Shakira's halftime show in 2020 to perform “I Like It.” However, this solo performance was highly anticipated and met with controversy. Despite Bad Bunny's Puerto Rican heritage and U.S. citizenship, right-wing figures criticized the NFL's choice, with some labeling it as “un-American.” Turning Point USA even staged a counter-performance featuring Kid Rock, and former President Trump claimed ignorance of Bad Bunny, deeming the choice “ridiculous.”
Bad Bunny remained relatively silent amidst the backlash, stating at a press conference that his priority was to highlight Puerto Rican culture. He emphasized the celebratory nature of the performance: “It’s gonna be fun and it’s going to be a party… People only have to worry about dance … I think there’s no better dance than the one that come from the heart.”
