Boards of Canada Break 13-Year Silence with Mysterious New Track 'Tape 05'
Electronic music pioneers Boards of Canada have surprised fans with 'Tape 05,' their first new music in 13 years, sparking speculation about a larger project.

In the years since ‘Tomorrow’s Harvest,’ the band has maintained a low profile, occasionally surfacing with remixes, archival reissues, and a notable DJ mix for NTS.
Adding to the intrigue, a dedicated Boards of Canada fan discovered that a website previously used for disseminating clues, which had been displaying 404 errors, was reactivated with the cryptic message: “nobody home…” followed by its Morse code equivalent.
Earlier this month, fans reported receiving VHS tapes adorned with the iconic Boards of Canada hexagon-mesh logo. According to BoC Pages, an archivist page, these tapes contained audio from an advertisement for a Christian bible school magazine that ceased publication in 1991.
Posters reminiscent of the artwork from their seminal 1998 album, ‘Music Has The Right To Children,’ have also appeared in various cities, including London, New York, California, and at Liquidroom in Shibuya, Japan.
Earlier this week, Warp fueled the speculation by sharing an Instagram carousel featuring these posters, further intensifying the anticipation surrounding Boards of Canada's next move.
