BTS Meets Mexican President, Greets ARMY from National Palace Balcony
K-pop sensation BTS met with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and greeted their fans (ARMY) from the balcony of the National Palace in Mexico City before their ARIRANG tour.

On Wednesday, May 6, BTS had a momentous meeting with Mexico's president, Claudia Sheinbaum, at the National Palace in Mexico City. The highlight? Addressing approximately 50,000 ecstatic fans, known as ARMY, who had gathered at the Zócalo square. The capital's government reported the impressive turnout.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd in the country’s main public square, the South Korean band delivered heartfelt messages in both Spanish and English. This gesture ignited waves of applause, smiles, and tears among their devoted ARMY. Fans endured intense heat for hours, eagerly anticipating the three concerts set to kick off on Thursday, May 7, as part of their ARIRANG tour.

Their appearance on the balcony was brief, lasting only five minutes, but it was enough to fulfill the dreams of countless fans who yearned to see their idols up close.
RM took the microphone first, expressing gratitude in a mix of Spanish and English: "Muchas gracias for having us. We can’t wait for tomorrow’s concert on stage. Let’s have fun together! Te amo. Te quiero, Muchas gracias."
V followed, charming the crowd by saying, "Hello. I don’t speak Spanish very well, but I will try. I’ve missed you. We’ve missed Mexico so much. The energy here is incredible. Thank you so much for loving us so much. See you next time. Goodbye," reading his message in Spanish from his phone.
The band members seemed genuinely impressed by the massive turnout at the Constitution Plaza (Zócalo). Dressed in elegant beige and navy-blue suits, they captured the fans' energy and euphoria with their phone cameras.
President Sheinbaum later shared, "I already told them that they have to come back next year," echoing the hopes of many for a free BTS concert at the Zócalo.
She also posted a photo with the seven members of BTS on social media, stating, "I warmly welcome one of the most beloved groups among the youth of Mexico: BTS. Music and values unite Mexico and South Korea."
However, the president's invitation to the National Palace drew criticism from some ARMY members who urged her not to politicize the group's visit.
BTS is scheduled to perform three sold-out concerts at the GNP Seguros Stadium on May 7, 9, and 10. Promoter Ocesa reported selling over 136,000 tickets for these shows.
Following the rapid sell-out of tickets, Sheinbaum had previously appealed to South Korean President Lee Jae Myung for more concerts in Mexico. She revealed that the South Korean government had forwarded the request to HYBE, the company managing the supergroup.
