Dare to Be Stupid: A "Weird Al" Yankovic Jukebox Musical Is Coming to Broadway
A Broadway jukebox musical centered around the comedic genius of "Weird Al" Yankovic is in development, promising a hilarious and nostalgic trip through his iconic parody songs.

Get ready for a dose of musical parody! A Broadway jukebox musical about "Weird Al" Yankovic is officially in the works, according to Deadline. The show, titled Dare to Be Stupid, will feature a soundtrack packed with Yankovic's greatest hits.
Expect to hear classics like “White & Nerdy” (his spin on “Ridin’” by Chamillionaire), “Amish Paradise” (a playful take on Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise”), “Eat It” (“Beat It”), “Like a Surgeon” (“Like a Virgin”), and the grunge-era send-up “Smells Like Nirvana.”
"Ever since I was a middle-aged man, I’ve always wanted to be a part of the New York theatre community," Yankovic quipped in a statement to Deadline. "Plus, the one thing people always say about Broadway is that it’s ‘severely lacking in Weird Al-based entertainment,’ and I think this musical should fix that problem immediately."
Dare to Be Stupid is in the capable hands of director Alex Timbers, known for his work on All In (inspired by the Magnetic Fields’ 69 Love Songs) and David Byrne and Fatboy Slim’s Here Lies Love. Fans of Yankovic can catch him on his massive 90-show North American tour, running until mid-October 2025.
