Exodus from Trump's 'Freedom 250': Milli Vanilli, The Commodores, and More Bail
Several artists, including Milli Vanilli and The Commodores, have withdrawn from Donald Trump's Freedom 250 celebration at the Great American State Fair, citing various reasons from political concerns to misleading information about the e...

The Freedom 250 event, slated to occur at the National Mall in Washington DC from June 25 to July 10, was initially promoted as a "once-in-a-generation celebration" uniting all 56 US states and territories in a World’s Fair-style event.
The initial lineup boasted names like Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, Flo Rida, Poison frontman Bret Michaels, The Commodores, Young MC, Morris Day & The Time, and C+C Music Factory.
However, the tide quickly turned as artists began to pull out. Morris Day & The Time were among the first, dismissing their involvement as a "rumour." Young MC followed, stating on Instagram that his agents were not informed of any political affiliations.
Now, Milli Vanilli has also distanced themselves. A statement from The Real Milli Vanilli, shared on social media by Jodie Rocco, clarified that any other iteration of the name should be considered a tribute band with no vocal or musical connection to their original sound. Notably, Fab Morvan, generally regarded as the sole remaining member, has yet to comment.

Brett Michaels released his own statement describing his "difficult decision" to withdraw. He explained that the event was initially presented as a non-partisan celebration of the country, but evolved into something more divisive than he had agreed to.
The Commodores also announced their departure. "Our music has always been our voice and we choose not to publicly affiliate with any single political party," the band stated on Instagram, emphasizing their support for all Americans.
Martina McBride also clarified her position, stating on Instagram that while the event was presented as nonpartisan, it "turned out to be misleading."
However, Freedom Williams of C+C Music Factory defended his group's participation in a lengthy Instagram video. Despite stating, "I don’t fuck with Trump," he asserted his right to make his own decisions.
The event promises live music, carnival rides, and state-specific activations, aiming to showcase the diversity of the United States.
