Fan Encounter Gone Wrong? Chappell Roan Security Accused of Harassment in Brazil
A Brazilian soccer player alleges that Chappell Roan's security aggressively confronted his daughter and wife at a restaurant in São Paulo, leading to tears and disappointment.
An encounter involving Chappell Roan’s security team in São Paulo, Brazil, has sparked controversy. Pro soccer player Jorginho claims his 11-year-old daughter, a fan of the singer, was left “extremely shaken” after an incident at a local restaurant.
Jorginho detailed the situation in an Instagram Story, tagging Roan’s account. He explained that his wife, Catherine Harding, and daughter were in São Paulo ahead of Roan’s performance at Lollapalooza.
According to Jorginho, his daughter spotted Roan at their hotel restaurant. Excited, she simply walked past the singer's table, smiled to confirm it was her, and returned to her seat.
However, Jorginho alleges that a security guard approached their table and spoke aggressively to his wife and daughter, accusing the child of “disrespect” and “harassment.” He claims the guard threatened to file a complaint with the hotel, leaving his daughter in tears.
Billboard has reached out to Roan’s representatives for comment but has not yet received a response. The incident occurred as Roan was preparing to perform at São Paulo’s Autódromo de Interlagos.
Jorginho concluded his Instagram post by emphasizing that his daughter was simply an admirer. He criticized the security team's behavior, stating that such treatment should not happen, especially to a child. He ended with: “WITHOUT YOUR FANS, YOU WOULD BE NOTHING. AND TO THE FANS, SHE DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION.”
This incident follows a previous instance where Roan documented her experience with autograph seekers and photographers in Paris.
In the video, Roan expressed feeling “disregarded as a human” due to the lack of respect for her boundaries. She directly addressed the persistent individuals, requesting them to stop following and harassing her. "All of you, I’m asking you kindly to please leave me alone and stop following me and harassing me. No, I’m not gonna sign. This is what it’s like, if you were wondering how it is.”
Roan's debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in 2024. She also released the Hot 100 hits “The Giver” and “The Subway” last year.
