Father John Misty has dropped a new single, “The Payoff,” via Sub Pop. The track is a collaboration with Drew Erickson, a frequent collaborator who has worked on Misty’s past two albums and with Lana Del Rey and Angel Olsen.

“The Payoff” follows January's “The Old Law” as Josh Tillman's second Father John Misty song of 2026. In 2024, Tillman released Mahashmashana. He is currently touring in support of the record across Europe, the UK, and North America this summer. Additionally, in 2025, he shared a collection of demos from the I Love You, Honeybear sessions.
