Foo Fighters Tease New Album with Interactive Website: A Deep Dive

It's been a few weeks since Dave Grohl hinted to a Tasmanian crowd that the Foo Fighters had a new album in the works. Now, they're backing it up with interactive teasers. The band's website now features a virtual superfan's bedroom, plastered with Foo Fighters memorabilia. Clicking on these images unlocks snippets of new music, offering the first taste since 2023's But Here We Are.

The band previewed the new homepage with an Instagram reel:

<div style="width:100%;"><div style="position:relative;padding-bottom:100%;"><iframe src="https://www.instagram.com/reels/DUqTKGUCdOp/embed/" width="100%" height="100%" style="position:absolute;left:0;top:0;" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div></div>

The reel features a charging guitar line, Grohl's signature growl, and a chorus of women singing "na-na-na." The homepage itself contains even more easter eggs. Clicking on Grohl's poster unleashes him screaming "Do I? Do I? Do I? Do I?" over distorted guitar. The full-band pic offers a staticky guitar line with melodic vocals, while the poster below features Grohl repeating "Turn the cameras on" over a building crescendo. A shot of drummer Ilan Rubin pairs jangly guitar with snare hits. Several other posters await discovery.

Are these snippets from different songs, or slices of a larger piece? Only time—and Dave Grohl—will tell.

In related news, former drummer Josh Freese recently commented on his brief tenure with the Foo Fighters. "I enjoyed being around those guys," he told Modern Drummer. "They were generous and good to me… and that’s what makes the whole thing even more of a mystery. I think I’m a pretty good read on people, and I did not see that coming. One day it was nothing but laughs, we’re on stage and Dave’s looking at me every night like, ‘You’re killing it, dude!!!’ And then it was just — over." Shortly after, Rubin, formerly of Nine Inch Nails, joined the band. The upcoming 12th record will be the first since Rubin joined; Freese did not record on But Here We Are.
