Former Turnstile Guitarist Brady Ebert Arrested for Attempted Murder

Former Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert, who departed from the band in 2022, was arrested on Tuesday for attempted murder. The news, which emerged yesterday, involves serious charges of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault, according to the Maryland Judiciary website. Ebert, 33, is currently in custody after a warrant was served on Tuesday.

UPDATE: According to The Baltimore Banner, Ebert is accused of intentionally hitting 79-year-old William Yates with his car. William is the father of Brendan Yates, Ebert's former bandmate. Police in Silver Spring, Maryland responded to a call and found William Yates in his front yard with "trauma to his lower extremities."

Police claim that Ebert showed up outside Yates' home, honked his horn, yelled obscenities, and ran Yates over. The Banner article details a video of the attack, reportedly showing William Yates warning his daughter and her husband about Ebert's arrival. Yates is seen backing up in the driveway and throwing a rock at Ebert's car. Ebert allegedly backed up and then accelerated forward, hitting Yates as he tried to run away.

William Yates reportedly told police about "several previous incidents" with Ebert since his departure from Turnstile, including a recent near-miss incident with his car. He also stated that Ebert returned to the scene and yelled that William "deserved it" while he awaited medical assistance. You can read the Banner's full account here.

Ebert and Brendan Yates formed Turnstile in 2010. The reasons for Ebert's departure from the band remain undisclosed. He recently launched a new Baltimore hardcore band called The S.E.T., releasing their debut EP Self Evident Truth last month. However, the other S.E.T. members kicked Ebert out of the band after Ebert made inflammatory social-media comments about Turnstile. More recently, Ebert formed another band called the Experience and posted practice videos on Instagram.
