Gorillaz and Harry Styles Collide with Ryan Gosling on SNL!
Gorillaz rocked Saturday Night Live with a mix of new and old, while Harry Styles made a surprise appearance during Ryan Gosling's hosting gig.
Last night, Gorillaz made their Saturday Night Live debut with Damon Albarn at the helm. They showcased their new UK #1 album, The Mountain, performing "The Moon Cave" alongside Asha Puthli, Black Thought, and Anoushka Shankar. They also revisited their classic, 25-year-old debut single "Clint Eastwood" with Del The Funky Homosapien.
Ryan Gosling, hosting for the fourth time, introduced the band, sporting a memorable cyclops eye from a previous sketch. Gosling himself was surprised it wasn't his fifth time hosting.
Early in Gosling's monologue, Harry Styles was spotted in the audience, there to promote his upcoming album Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally next week. Gosling playfully called out the SNL cast and crew for their apparent favoritism towards Styles. Cast member Sarah Sherman's excitement referenced a past SNL controversy. Gosling then led the cast in a rendition of Styles' hit "Sign Of The Times," featured in Gosling's new film, Project Hail Mary.
Other musical moments included Colin Jost (as Pete Hegseth) singing Papa Roach in the cold open, James Austin Johnson shredding guitar during Weekend Update, a Reba McEntire reference in a wedding sketch, and Gosling singing as an eccentric baker in a pre-taped segment.
